Warm Fuzzy Jar

Back in August when I stayed at Heather’s house, I saw that she had a jar where her kids would put a fuzzy in if they did something nice. She had their reward pictured on the outside of the jar. They would get their reward when the jar was full from their fuzz balls.

Kimball started being a little more difficult to discipline. If Kimball was crying because she was not getting her way, then she would go in her room and cry and come out when she was finished and ready to be happy. She knew when she would start crying that she had to go to her room and she even closed the door behind her. One day she snapped and decided that she was no longer going to cry in her room. Instead she would throw bigger tantrums. This was driving me nuts, so I decided to try this fuzzy jar. Her behavior has changed quite a bit since. She gets to put a fuzzy in the jar when she obeys, is happy, cleans up her toys, eats a good dinner, etc. However, she has to do all these things while having a pleasant attitude. We also do a, “happy fuzzy dance” when she puts one in the jar. If she does something mean, throws a tantrum, etc. I take a fuzzy out.

Her reward is ice cream from McDonalds, so I posted a picture of ice cream on the jar, so every time she put a fuzzy in, she would be reminded of what she is working towards. Don’t get me wrong, she still has her bad days, but they have been more manageable since I started this jar.

Here is her first Ice Cream trip. We brought the jar with us, so that she could turn in her full jar of fuzzies for ice cream.

She enjoyed every second of it!

Cute idea. I may have to steal it too.
