It has been too long since I last posted. Since this is my version of a journal, I wanted to jot some things down. We have been busy with work, church & having fun!
Work: Kevin has been very busy at work. One of the owners (Rene) of the dental practice went to a minor league baseball game with his family. He was holding his granddaughter and a line drive foul ball was coming their way. He quickly turned to protect his granddaughter, and he was hit on the side of the head. He went to the ER and there weren’t any broken bones, but his vision was not the same. He’s had a couple surgeries to repair his retina and will most likely have more to come. He is expected to be out of work for the next 6 months. Our prayers are with him and his family for a speedy recovery. Before this, Kevin worked with at least one other doctor most days. Kevin really enjoyed having another doctor in the office to bounce some ideas off of. Now, he is a solo doctor 4.5 out of 5 days of the week. It is a little stressful, because some procedures are not always cut & dry, and may take more time then originally planned. So, it is nice to have another doctor there to back you up with patients that are in the other chairs. He has a split work week where he practices in Kingsville (45 minute commute each way) 2 days a week and works close to home 3 days a week. The days that he works here in Corpus, he comes home for lunch. It is a nice break in the day for me when he comes home. Kevin has learned a lot since working and we are very grateful to be here and have this job!
Church: We were asked to speak in church our third week here. We avoided speaking in the Leon Valley ward in San Antonio for 2 years. Surprisingly, I spoke for 30 minutes, which left Kevin with only 10 minutes to cover his topic. Kevin was called as Young Men President about a month ago. He was called on Sunday and had a youth temple trip to attend in San Antonio the following Saturday. He has mutual on Wednesday, which is the day he works out in Kingsville, so I only see Kevin for about 30 minutes on Wednesdays. He enjoys working with the Young Men! I was called as a Relief Society Instructor and co-teacher for the 14-15 year old Sunday School class. I really enjoy teaching, because I feel like I learn so much in my preparation. Kimball LOVES going to nursery (she always has), she doesn’t really have much separation anxiety. She knows that we go to church on Sunday. When I tell her that it is Sunday, she responds with “church & nursery!” Whenever amen is said during Sacrament Meeting, she says, “bye bye – go to nursery?!” This starts with the invocation. She is very well behaved during Sacrament, which we are grateful for. She sits on the bench or on our laps. When we pick her up from nursery, we ask her what she did and she says, “SNACKS (listing everything she ate), play with TOYS, Jesus Christ, and be nice to babies!”
Having fun: Kimball and I have a pretty routine week. We go to Gold’s Gym Monday, Wednesday & Friday. On Tuesday, we go to story time at the local library and we go to the Aquarium splash pad on Thursday. I usually stop at Sonic or McDonalds and grab a Diet Coke every morning and when we pull up to the drive-thru, Kimball will say “mommy’s drink?” Do I have an addiction? Maybe. We play at home with play doh, coloring books, stickers, bubbles & sidewalk chalk. Kimball still enjoys watching Signing Time DVDs and likes to snuggle with me while watching “Special Agent Oso” before her nap. After her nap, we will have a dance party! Her favorite song to dance to is “Raise Your Glass” by Pink. Kimball’s dancing consists of jumping on the bed & going around in circles with an occasional “woot woot!” (Kevin taught her everything she knows :)) We love it when daddy comes home! Kimball screams with excitement when she hears the door beep and will stop whatever she is doing to see daddy. She will then run the opposite way to have Kevin chase her. I am trying to keep track of all the funny things she says during the day and hope to post them on a regular basis.
Anyway, this is what we have been up to. I was looking for a picture to post, but I don’t have any recent ones sorry.

What a perfect update!
Kevin: Holy cow about his coworker! Oh my goodness. He is a hero for protecting his granddaughter though. I couldn't be more grateful if my dad did that for Brinley! We are sending him prayers for a full recovery! I'm sure it is so refreshing for Kevin to have a job and be busy (paying off those loans!! lol). That is our biggest worry now is that we spend all this time and $$ in law school and worrying that he won't get a job after he graduates!
Church: Brinley is pretty stressed still about nursery, but after the leader told us to leave her and not stay inside the room, she hasn't cried more than 5 minutes after Ryan has left to drop her off. She needs to get used to it!
You and Kimball are the cutest little pair! Your fun gave me lots of new ideas for me and Brin during the day. Jealous of your gym and library time but someday Brinley will get to go outside into the real world after I stop watching this baby during the day!
Is it still bloody hot in TX? It is scorching hot here!!
What a great update! Sounds like y'all are doing well. I love hearing your stories about Kimball...she is adorable. What a fun age. =)
