Where in the World are the Packard’s Going??

I know that some of you have not been able to sleep at night because you really want to know where the Packard’s are going :) Today is the day you will be able to sleep all night because we are heading to Corpus Christi, Texas. Yes, I know – We didn’t think we would be in Texas after dental school either. We looked out west and there were a few opportunities, however, they didn’t work out. After seeing how slim the pickings were on the west coast, we broadened our search to include Texas.

Just to give you an idea of how dentistry is in Texas right now: we were working with Nationwide Dental (recruiting agency). We had them send us some practice profiles from the West Coast and they sent us a total of 5 (for the whole west coast). When we asked them to send us profiles for 1/2 of Texas, 31 attachments showed up in Kevin’s email inbox.

Long story short – Kevin emailed a contact from Nationwide one afternoon and received an immediate response back and a phone call that evening. We were very impressed with their quick response. Kevin drove down that weekend to check out their offices and to meet with them. The next weekend the doctor drove up with his wife and took Kevin and I out to dinner (thanks to the O’Briens for watching Kimball until 11:00 at night). He brought up the contract and the rest is history. Kevin received a couple other job offers and after much thought and consideration, we feel like the Corpus Christi opportunity would be the best match for our family at this time. It is a one year contract and we can renew it every year for as long as we would like.

Dental school has flown by and we have enjoyed our time here, we have met so many wonderful people that have blessed our lives in more ways than we could ever count. I never thought I would say this, but I will miss San Antonio. We look  forward to our new adventures ahead of us. I am so proud of Kevin for his accomplishments and am grateful that I have been with him every step of the way. We feel so blessed!

Great news!!!!!!!!!!

My hubs Ryan served his mission in that area! It is great that you're already used to the heat and humidity because he said that was pretty intense. The missionaries couldn't do much down there because of the water. That was a no-go zone for some missionaries because of the beach goers and spring break-ers. BUT it looks awesome. It seriously is amazing when you broaden your search because we are completely leaving out the west coast after law school. We LOVe it here in the South and will probably end up living here forever!! Didn't think I'd say that after living 20+ years on the west coast and loving it too! The south is just different and I LOVE it!!!!

I have to admit that I'm a bit in shock, but so happy that you will be close to SA for when we visit :) hehe. I'm so selfish!
