Grandpa Kimball served in World War II in an Army reconnaissance plane, flying directly over enemy positions and calling in artillery fire. He was awarded a medal for completing 30 missions (I think) and surviving, because evidently it was a pretty hazardous assignment. He was also able to watch with a bird's-eye view as Patton's army rolled across Europe towards Germany. So in honor of his service, the VFW was there with an Honor Guard, complete with a flag-draped casket and 21-gun salute. It was a very nice ceremony and the first time I had been at Veteran's funeral.
In between all the memorials, we had a bit of time to do some other stuff with family in and around Danville. We all ate at Fentons in Oakland...the ice cream is amazing! We also swung by the Oakland Temple and visitor's center, for seriously about 2 minutes...we were running a little behind. The Oakland Temple has an amazing view though..
